How to pack your home – and what you need… (Bennett’s, of course!)

Oct 31, 2022 | Packing Service Removals

Moving is stressful and so overwhelming, and part of the stress has to do with packing up the entire house.

At first, it may seem impossible. But with helpful tips and suggestions, packing can be made easier. Easier still – is if we pack for you!

Organised and Prepared!

Being organised and preparing to move requires time and patience when packing all your belongings. How to do this without getting overwhelmed?

When you move, and relocate to another place – whether it is nearby or further away – you’d certainly like all your valued items to arrive intact.

A good place to start is to have the right packing materials. And, of course, the right removals company who can pack and move you safely. With Bennett’s, you’re certainly assured of this.

How to start packing up your home

If you are packing up yourself, make a packing supply list of what you need. We also supply packing materials should you prefer to do your own packing.

Moving boxes are generally the same weight and quality as regular shipping boxes, unless you are wanting some made from thicker cardboard that allows for heavier packing.

The question most people have is, ‘Should I purchase moving boxes or find some slightly used from a store or from friends who have just recently moved?’ I suppose it all depends on the condition and quality of used box too.

Packing yourself, or call in the professionals?

For the best peace of mind and stress-free moving, make use of our expert packing skills. By paying experienced professionals to not only transport your household items to another home – but to also take care of other equally important tasks like packing – this is one huge weight off your shoulders. Packing is the King of all pre-move relocation jobs!

We come with all the necessary types of packing materials, protective covers, and any additional moving equipment to get things done faster and safer. And with good packing speed that keeps your property and personal safety in mind.

What not to pack and move

Definitely any surplus items and clutter that you’ve kept in the loft, in the basement, in the garage, in cupboards under the stairs for years! And haven’t really used much in this time! Now is a perfect time to declutter and clear out.

It saves you packing time. It saves you space in your new home. And it saves you money, by not having to move excess stuff that you don’t need.

Handle with care

There are some items that need special treatment. Either they require special packing, or specific handling in the move.

An example is this recent vintage jukebox that we moved for a client. In this instance, it would be advisable to first discuss any unusual items that need to be moved, and we’ll work out the best way to carefully relocate these. Again, this example of the vintage jukebox, it needed to be moved to the first floor of an incompletely built house on a steep slope. For this, it required a forklift for the best moving option.

Packing an Essentials Box

This is the Very Necessary box! It should be packed full of items that you’ll need for your last few nights before you move. And also for the first few nights in your new home.

Things like your kettle, coffee, towels, soap, and other essentials.

Packing the house room by room

Everyone has a slightly different approach to packing, but one option is to pack room by room. This enables you to not leave anything behind.

The list of packing materials you just have to have:
